interactive investor started life in 1995 providing data and information for self-directed, mainly savvy, investors. Since then it has continued to grow strongly and today counts over 400,000 customers in the UK. The Investor Essentials account is targeted at novice investors starting their investment journey. Only ISAs and general investment accounts are available (more options are available under different accounts) for pots up to a maximum of £50k at which point you’re moved on to the next account up. interactive investor has an extensive range of investments, plenty of research and guidance, investment filters and a selection of ready-made investment option, all underpinned by a simple ‘flat fee’ pricing model.

A very competitively priced service for novice investors. Investors can only invest in ISAs or general investment accounts and the maximum portfolio size is £30k at which point investors are automatically switched to the standard investor account.
One of the things we love about Interactive Investor is how it splits up its service to suit all types of investors. The ‘Investor Essentials’ route is designed for newer investors with smaller portfolios, and does away with some of the extra choices that more experienced investors might want.
This simplified account lets you choose between an ISA or GIA, has a transparent flat-fee pricing model, and gives you a handful of ready-made options to get you started. Choose to invest for growth, income or sustainability, and pay only £4.99 a month for the service.
For those looking to learn, Interactive Investor provides brilliant educational content from videos to podcasts to simple guides. Newer investors could be very happy here.
